Our Story

How we got here

Pikantna Agawa was born out of our time living in Miahuatlán, seated in the heart of mezcal country in Oaxaca. It was there, in the rhythm of everyday life, that we really got to know mezcal. Not just the drink—but the craft, the people, and the stories behind every bottle.
Consequentially, the deeper we got, the more we saw how often mezcal gets exploited – oftentimes firsthand – by flashy brands, by mass production, by outsiders (and locals) chasing trends instead of respecting tradition. We didn’t want to be part of that. But we also didn’t want to walk away.
We started this project as an attempt to push back against the marketing buzzwords and the latest trending hashtags. Our commitment is to only work with producers and communities who own their own operations, who still make mezcal the way it’s been made for generations—on their land, in their language, with their hands. We aim to provide a platform built to amplify the voices and spirits of the people who actually make mezcal, and to educate drinkers along the way. Because if you care about what’s in your glass, you should care about who made it, how it was made, and why that matters.
So, here we are. We didn’t set out to start an import company, but we are glad to be on this journey. And we’re proud to bring you mezcal that’s d*mn good, honestly sourced, and rooted in something real.

Our Mission

As the mezcal category continues to grow to a global scale, we want to be a vehicle that amplifies and educates the cultural richness of the spirit. Pikantna Agawa accomplishes this by only sourcing local-owned agave spirits to Poland. We cultivate relationships with producers and clients built upon integrity, transparency, and equity.

Our Values

Transparency

Maintaining open and honest communication between producers, clients and consumers in order to cultivate trust among each other.

Humility

Minimizing status differences, respecting one another, admitting mistakes, and being willing to change course in order to learn and grow, both on a personal level and as a business.

Culture

Valuing, respecting, and honoring each other’s cultures is crucial for the preservation and education of traditions and values among one another.

Sustainability

Incorporating our long-term values to ensure that future generations can achieve their dreams. After all, it’s more than just about preserving agaves.

Authenticity

Being genuine, communication openly (but with respect), and being vulnerable with others to build strong, trusting foundations.

Community

Building strong relationships – both in-person and virtual, nearby and abroad – with individuals in order to form a community that provides support and inclusivity.
